The only time red blood appears is when there is when the orcs hit you, but it is in small amounts and there are never decapitations or dismeberment on humans. There are decapitations on human/monster creatures (orcs) that results in relatively large amounts of blood. Violence comes in a grand and horrific way. Sure there is some drinking and smoking, but it is so sparsely done that, it is not even worth mentioning.

Violence is the only factor worth mentioning in this game.

Hello! It is the PEGI reviewer back at it again with the age ratings for popular video games on. Jester's Rating: 9.5/10 (*NOTE* The Australian OFLC rating for Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is MA15+ for Strong Violence)

Basically it's an insurgency simulator for the 12th century (a slightly alternate 12th century, that is. Heck, there's an option to 'brutalize' an enemy, which involves Talion stabbing said foe a number of times in the torso and head to terrify the surrounding orcs. Shadow of Mordor is fun in terms of how much there is to do in the game but it really isn't suitable for kids and early teens. The introductory cutscenes are a little graphic as well. Every hit animation is accompanied by a spray of black orc blood. Okay, it's mostly decapitations accompanied by an array of sword-through-torso/skull/arms/throat. It features a variety of graphic, pre-animated kill sequences that include, but are not limited to, bone-breaking, decapitation, beheading, more decapitation. Of course, Shadow of Mordor more than fulfills that expectation. To be straight, Shadow of Mordor is an action game, so action (also interpreted as 'violence') is to be expected. But I say if your child knows the difference between real-life and fantasy and is 12, 13, or older, then I say that they can handle this game. When in combat, Talion can execute a variety of moves including stabbing orcs in the face with his sword up to being able to decapitate them. There are also things called brutalizations, where you're behind an enemy and you repeatedly shank them. Talion is also accompanied by a spirit called a wraith, which gives him superhuman abilities (Being able to enter peoples minds, being able to sprint fast, survive long falls from towers, etc.) Talion is able to kill Uruks in somewhat violent ways using a range of weapons from a bow and arrow to a sword. Afterwards, Talion is resurrected by an elf lord to get vengeance on the man who killed his family, so, of course you will have to kill a BUNCH of orcs and uruks in order to find the right one. All you can see is the blade slide across his neck. Talion is killed by his throat being slit. In the game, the player plays as a ranger named Talion who is captured and killed along with his family by evil Uruks and Orcs, by the command of the Black Hand of Sauron (the main antagonist in the game). This game is based off of Tolkien's LOTR saga (Lord of the Rings). Middle-Earth Shadow of Mordor is an open-world game that can be very violent at times which earned its rating of M for Mature.
